Aggie football weekend- WHOOP!

Last weekend Ryan and I and Ryan's friend Rusty and his girlfriend Heather all ventured down to College Station for the weekend. We had so much fun! We rented an RV from Aggieland RV rental for Friday, Saturday and returned it on Sunday. Fun times if I must say so!! Rusty and Heather drove in from Oxford, Mississippi on Thursday afternoon and we left around noon on Friday. First stop- Czech Bakery in West, Texas so that I could pick up a birthday cake for Rusty. Ryan decided to be Mr. Funny man and also purchase Rusty a pickeled pigs foot. OMG- that thing was so disgusting and stinky. People actually eat those things!! YUCK!!

We tried to get Rusty to take a little bite but it didn't happen. He gagged when it got close to his mouth. I was gagging just watching. Again, YUCK!!

Rusty and his girlfriend Heather. They were fun to hang out with!

Second stop: Polly's Cocina in the heart (hood) of Bryan. This was me and Ryan's FAV restaurant in college. We ate here at least once a week if not usually twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. And how did I not gain any weight in college? Not sure, but this place is sure yummy! Since it was Rusty's bday, he got to wear the lovely hat!

Group pic! Polly, the owner, always recognizes Ryan when she sees him. We have been here probably once a year since college (or less) just when we come down to College Station. I think we were her best customers back in the day!

Saturday was filled with tailgating, and errr......Magnum 40s?? Yes, we did stop for one of these!

Our seats were up in the Zone and when I say up, I mean up!! It was very hot and very sunny!

After our disappointing loss (don't get me started!!), we came back to the RV for some birthday cake, which unfortunately, was not the greatest. :(

We hung out that night sitting outside in the beautiful weather and reminiscing on the old college days. I LOVED being down there for the weekend- brought back so many memories and fun times. College Station has changed a lot- they have so many new restaurants, stores and apartments. Fun place to be!!

Sunday we packed up and headed home. I realized when we were packing up that I had not taken any pics of the inside of our RV, so here they are! We were packing up so it is a mess, but you can get an idea at least! There was one queen bed, one double bed (bottom bunk) and a twin bed on top bunk. We had a table, fridge, freezer, sink, shower, oven and microwave. What else do ya need?

Fun times were had by all and we are looking forward to going down again. One thing we noticed were the amount of 8-10 year old kids out running around at the tailgates. All the kids bring their bikes, scooters, skateboards and such and run around the parking lots all weekend long. It is a really fun, family friendly atmosphere where we were and when the kids get older I think they'll have lots of fun going with us. Good times!!

Happy Fall!!

I got out some of my Fall decorations today and a few new ones as well! Fall is my FAV time of year! My good friend, Judy Lumsden, has been making wreaths for a while now and selling them on Etsy. She had told me about them but I had never seen them in person until yesterday at the Dentist office. Addyson and I had our teeth cleaned and there was the CUTEST wreath ever in the office. I texted Judy while I was there and sure enough, she had made it! I could not stop thinking about how cute the wreath was, so today I went to her house and just had to have one for my front door! The pictures really don't do it justice on Etsy (and maybe not here either)- it is so cute in person!! She has basically transformed her house into a wreath making factory and they have SO MANY cute ones! I decided on the one below but her Christmas ones were adorable as well. She also does College Football wreaths, Fall wreaths and pretty much anything you can think of. Fun times decorating!!

My front porch with a few Halloween things out!

Here's a few close ups of the wreath and things on it.....this one is a blinking pumpkin

scary spider!

Addyson's quotes this week

Addyson always says funny things and I rarely write them down....here are a few from the past few days that stuck out to me:

Addyson: "Mom, Guess who I love more than our entire planet?"
Me: Who?
Addyson: "BEN! I love my brother so much!" (And she does- it's so sweet!!)

Addyson: "Hey look at those chuckers!"
Me: What????? confused!
Addyson: "Chuckers....as she points to a beaver on the map"
Me: Ha!! I guess she remembers the "How much wood can a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood.....guess she thought those were called chuckers!

Addyson (while driving home tonight): "Mom, I want a Denali"
Me: "Ummm What? How do you even know what a Denali is? Give me 3 reasons why you want a Denali" (just to see what she would say!)
Addyson: "Hmmmm, 1. It has a TV 2. It has a back seat (I guess she means 3rd row!) and 3. (she thought for a while) I just like them!"
Me: "Okay, those are pretty good reasons" Ha Ha!

And one more!

Addyson: "Ewww that boy has his shirt off!" (We were driving through a neighborhood and there was a man in the driveway with his shirt off)
Me: "Well, that's okay because boys can sometimes run around with their shirt off, but girls can't"
Addyson: "Yea, 'cause boys have boobies too but they are just blended in"
Me: Heee Heee - trying to not let her see me cracking up! Ha! "Yes, that is right, boys have boobies too" :)

Twins!

Lately I have really been thinking of how much Addyson and Ben look alike- especially when Addy was 18 months old. I went through some old pictures of Addy and I don't know if it's just me or what, but I think these 2 could be twins!!! Take off those sweet piggies and you would have Ben!

Oh my- love those sweet chuncky legs and belly she had!

Preschool update and Addyson is reading!

This week at Preschool seems to be going a lot better! Yesterday she said she had a lot of fun at school and today she was hugging new friends when I picked her up! Her buddies are Katen and another girl named Addison (Addison with an "i" and she is Addyson with a "y"). She seemed very happy and said she had lots of fun at school today. Yay! She hasn't mentioned anything else about "R" either, so that is good!

Tonight Addyson read me the ENTIRE Green Eggs and Ham book. I am SO super proud of her as this is not just a 3 words per page book. Some of the pages have 5o words or more and there are 62 pages! Granted not all the pages have words and some are just a few words, but overall this is a big book and I am so proud of her for reading it out loud to me word for word. Way to go Addyson!!!

1980 called and wants their hairsyle back!

Tonight I was drying Addyson's hair after she got out of her bath. I was brushing it as I normally do and I noticed her hair was being all crazy and big and sticking in whichever place I brushed it. If I would hold her hair up tall and blow dry it, it would stay up tall for a while. We were both laughing about this and so I decided to take a pic- I told her she had 80's hair tonight!

Well, all good fun must end because after I took the pic I was thinking, hmmmm.....this is weird. Why is your hair doing this? It seems awfully greasy actually and we just washed it. I washed her hair and then let her play in the bath a while and then I came back and got her to get out to dry hair, etc. So, I'm sitting here thinking, hmmm.....why does her hair look like this?? Then I noticed this......

If you can tell from the picture it is about 1/8 full and this was a brand new bottle of bubble bath/body soap (not shampoo). Hmmmmm......seems that this little chica thought it would be a good idea to waste the entire bottle and pour it into her hair, thus the greasy-ness. I was not very happy about this and I informed her that she would have to do some chores to pay for this bottle of soap that I had just purchased the day before. Little missy was not too happy about this news and she gave me this face. I couldn't resist snapping another pic.....even though it was probably not the right thing to do at the moment! Hee Hee!

She was upset for a while talking about how she was ever going to pay for this. I told her she would have to do some chores to pay for it (ha- I think it cost a whole $1.75 or something...don't even remember!), but I do think this will be a good lesson for her that she will hopefully remember next time she thinks about doing this. Oh well, at least we got some good 80's pics!

Addyson's First Day of Preschool

Tuesday was Addyson's first day of Preschool. She was SOOO excited and we've been talking about it for months now. She had her outfit all picked out, new shoes, lunchbox and all of that fun stuff! I was okay with everything until we got in the car and then wouldn't you know it, the dreaded # 8 of the Taylor Swift CD came on and well, I don't advise anyone to listen to that song on the way to the first day of school!! The title of the song is "Never Grow Up" and as you can imagine, when I really started listening to the words, it was a MAJOR tear jerker! The chorus line goes something to the extent of "Oh darlin don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up, wish you could stay this little." Yea, not a good song to hear on the way to school!!

Here is Miss Addyson eating her breakfast!

Brrr!! It's cold out here!

Bennie Boo wanted in on the picture action!

Being crazy/excited for first day!

Okay, one last "nice" picture for mom!

Walking in- yes, there were more tears here (on my part)! Her backpack is bigger than her!

So independent......didn't even look back to see if we were with her! Walked right in and sat down! Yes, I'm the mom talking the multiple pictures and I forgot to get one with her. :(

Addyson with Ms. Tina, her teacher

Snapping one last pic on the way out the door!

First day seemed to go pretty well. At first, when I picked her up she was saying how awesome everything was and even used the phrase, "School Rocks!" Ha! As I questioned her more (Was your teacher nice? Did you eat your lunch? Who did you play with? Were your friends in your class nice? You know, the 50 questions I had been waiting to ask all day!!) she filled me in on the details but then when I was asking who she played with she said "R" and she wasn't very nice" I asked, "Well, why not?" and Addyson said, "She said she didn't like my clothes or my shoes". GASP........I seriously wanted to cry and I actually did shed a tear when I was telling Ryan the story. I was like, "Who in the world told my little baby girl that they did not like her clothes?" Seriously, does this stuff start at age 4????? OMG- that kind of stuff BREAKS my heart if any kid (especially mine!:)) gets their feelings hurt over some other kid being mean.

Now, I don't know if it was a mean comment or not like if this girl came up and said, "I don't like your clothes" or if it was more of Addyson asking "Hey, do you like my clothes? (which I am not sure she would really ask someone that, but I'm just trying to think of all scenarios) and the girl just said No. That would not be as bad as if she just came up and initiated the comment. I tried to not make a big deal out of it to her and Ryan used it as a teaching moment to be like, "Well, just because someone says that doesn't mean that you can't still be nice to them......blah blah blah." He is totally 100% right, but I was thinking "You tell that little girl that your mommy said your outfit is the cutest thing in the entire world!!!!" Okay, that is not a good way to handle it, but you get my drift here!

Regardless, I guess it's an eye opener of real life- kids are not always nice to each other and I have to equip my little girl to know that it's okay if someone says that to her, it doesn't matter what other people think and to just move on and take the high road. Hopefully, this was just a random event and it will never happen again ;).
