Lauren Elaine is here!

On April 2nd my niece Lauren Elaine was born!  LeeAnn, my sister, was scheduled to be induced on Tuesday but she went into labor the day before.  Funny how that happens!  I was able to be up at the hospital to hang out and be there for the delivery.  So exciting!  I love days like this!!

 She's here!
 Such a pretty baby!
Proud Aunt Lisa!  Or Lou Lou as I am called!
 Love me some newborns!
I went up the next day to the hospital and got to help get her ready for her newborn pics.  I just love babies at this stage and I have found I like it even better when they are not my babies!  I remember being in the hospital and its kind of stressful.  You just want to shower, you've been up for days, you are confined to this little white walled room.....I could go on!  I loved being on the other side of all of this and just get to hold the baby!
Baby and mommy (and Hallie and Stewart!) are all doing great and they are adjusting to life with 4 of them!  I don't envy those first few weeks either!  They are so hard, but they do go by so quickly.  It's hard to enjoy them for what they are!

More happenings!

At the end of March we celebrated Clayton's 3rd birthday.  It was so fun and such a great birthday place!  Every time we drive by now, Ben gets so excited and says Party and Animals!  We had a great time!

Ben LOVES animals!  He was just in love with this whole place!

kissing the goat!  How cute!!!

Addyson's favorite thing was the bunnies.  They had a big barrell full of bunnies and she was just in love!  It was really sweet!

I LOVE this pic!  The boys were just laughing and having the best time!

Ben riding the horse.  Wow- he looks like a pro here!  One handed!  He cried so bad when he had to get off!

Clayton got to feed the baby cow.  SO cute!

So, we've been cleaning some things out lately.  Our dining room table set that we have is a family antique that has been in my family for over 100 years.  We have had it for the past 8 years and so we decided we were ready for something different/new and so we passed it on to some other family members that wanted the set.  We have an empty dining room and something about it just screams dance floor!!  Addyson has been having fun performing for us!

Our trip to Kansas!

We left Friday morning BRIGHT and early for our quick trip to Kansas.  Our flight left at 7:15 so that had us leaving the house at 5:15, which had my alarm going off at 4!  Unfortunately, I could not go to sleep at all the night before and I only got an hour and a half of sleep.  No good!  But we had lots to look forward to, so all was good!  We have really been wanting to bring Addyson up to Kansas to show her the house and take her by her new school.  They were having Kindergarten round up on Friday so we thought that would be the perfect day to go.  We also wanted to meet some contractors at our new house to get some bids on painting and flooring, so it was a very productive trip!  Addyson was super excited about the plane ride and she was ready to go!
Fortunately we were able to get into our hotel room really early (around 9:30 that morning) so we spent some time at the indoor heated pool at the hotel.  This was probably Addyson's favorite part.  After swimming the second time, she got out of the pool, wrapped the towel around her and said, "Mom, this has been the most relaxing trip!"  Ha!  Too funny!!

She had the pool all to herself the first swimming go-round!
In the afternoon we went out and had some lunch and then Addyson and I headed up to her new school.  I can't even say enough how friendly and nice every single person was at her school.  I just loved all of them!  They all knew that we had come in from Texas and they were so friendly and nice.  I had just the best feeling about it!  It was everything I had hoped it would be.  We even got to meet her teacher, Ms. Price.  She was just about the cutest, nicest lady and everything you would imagine a Kindergarten teacher to be.  She has taught for a LONG time and has taught several grade levels (including all the way up to 9th grade) and I am just so happy about it!  First impressions were good, so hopefully it continues that way!

When we got there they split the kids up into 3 groups and took them away to do some fun stuff and all the parents went to the library for a meeting.  Lots of information, but really good stuff.  I love stuff like this and I am so happy for Addyson to be starting school!

Okay, are you ready for the crazy part??  So, we were split up into groups and there was this little girl named Clarissa standing next to Addyson.  I said hi to her mom (you know, got to make me some friends!) and turns out, they are our next door neighbors!!  WHAT?!!  So exciting!!  How random is that?  I take it as a total God moment when something like that happens and it just gives me chills thinking about it!  They live directly next door to us and the girls will be starting Kindergarten together. The mom was really nice too and seemed like someone that I would be friends with, so that was good too.  Again, just the best day up there and it couldn't have gone any better!
Addyson standing in front of the school waving her "Harmony Elementary Huskey's" banner!  She was smiling and saying "Huskies!!!!"  Ha!!  Love it!
Later that afternoon we went back over to the house where we had some contractors lined up to give us some bids.  Addyson got to explore the house and she really loved it!  I am so glad as I really want her to be happy about all of this!  So far, so good!

So, this is a pic taken from February when we were there.  Notice the tree in the front flower bed....
Now it looks like this!  Everything is bloomed out and growing!
Here is a pic of the flower garden in the back yard.  They have some really nice plants and these are all azaleas.  I am going to have to sharpen up my green thumb!!
The view off the back deck.  Remember what it looked like before?

And, I think I forgot to post the pic, but we do have a big peach tree in the back yard too that had tons of peaches on it.  Love that!  We had a great time and Addyson made a list of the things she loved most about Kansas on the way home and she put 1.  Her House  2.  The people and 3.  The birds.   Too cute!  There were lots of different birds in the backyard and she had fun watching them.

We headed home on Saturday evening just in time to avoid the storms that ran through Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska.  At least up there we have a basement!!  Me and my girl on our way home!
We went straight over to my parents to pick up Mr. Ben who loved having his MiMi and PaPa to himself all weekend.  He probably didn't even notice we were gone, but he was happy to see us all for sure!  It was Hallie's birthday and here she is holding up 5 fingers to show how old she is!  Happy Birthday sweet Hallie!
Ben thought this was fun, so he showed me both of his hands!  Gee, can you tell they are eating a cupcake with pink icing??  :)
And then there is Addyson giving us 20!

Lots of catching up to do!

We have been super busy over the last month!  Lots going on at our house.  We have managed to squeeze in a little fun here and there though!  I have been bad about updating, but I wanted to include a few pics of what we did over spring break.  I know, I know....spring break was over a month ago!  Better late than never!

One day the kids and I met some friends at the Trinity River Train.  We had a great time!  The best part was meeting up with friends I have known since elementary school and we still keep in touch.  I love that!!

Marcy, Jensen, Kim, Noah, Wyatt and Katie in the way back!

Tammy, Morgan and Graham

My sweet blue eyed Addyson Tate!  Her eyes look so blue here!

Mischevious little Ben!
Ryan left for out of town on Tuesday of that week and so the kids and I took him to the airport and we had big plans to watch all of the airplanes take off and land.  Fun idea, huh!?  Well, that morning was very humid and windy and so we stayed in the car most of the time!

Up bright and early heading to the airport!  Powdered sugar donuts in tow!

We mainly stayed in the car to watch the airplanes.  There were SWARMS of mosquitos out that morning and so that was no fun!

Lots of donuts were eaten by all!

Mmmmmm these are yummy!

Making sure to get every last drop of sugar!

And then wipe the rest on mom's jeans.  What can I say?  I'm pretty much a human napkin!

On Wednesdays Addyson has ice skating lessons.  Afterwards we usually go and grab chick-fil-a in the food court.  This might sound like a non-adventourous type of thing, but single parenting it, its quite the chore!  Getting both kids food, finding a table, of course having to go back to the counter 5 times for things I forgot, etc.  Never a dull moment!
Pretty sure he was throwing chicken nuggets at some point during our meal!

Addyson taking a break to sit in Ben's stroller!

Thursday we had a relaxing day at home.  It was our only day that week to not have something on the books so we chilled at home, read books and played with toys.  It was a fun day!

Ben reading a book in the hallway in his jammies

Being a crazy boy outside.  If you can just imagine, he's yelling something here and about to run around with the bat!

Hallie came to watch Addy's ice skating class one day.  Addyson and Hallie both have big gum balls in their mouth in this pic.  Doesn't make for the best photo!

Not sure how this got out of order, but its a sweet pic of Kim and her boys!  Super mom was out there with her 2 month old Wyatt and was just a pro!  Always so good to see them!

More later........next up.......house updates!  We sold the house!!!
