Hmmmm....

I finally got my camera working. Or I guess I should say Ryan got it working! Not sure what the problem was but there is a small possibility that it could have been user error! I took a few pictures of Ben while he was being smiley yesterday. Then I found some pictures of Addyson at 8 weeks. Can't decide if I think they look alike...

I did notice that Addyson in the picture above is kind of rashy on her face and Ben has the same thing right now. Addyson also was not smiling at 8 weeks - she was not a happy camper at that point! Ben slept through the night again last night- yea!!! He fell asleep around 8 and at 9:30 I tried to get him up to eat. I had pumped so I gave him a bottle (this seems easier at night when I want to make sure he gets 4 oz). He evenutally took the whole bottle (after about 45 min!) but stayed alseep the whole time. He didn't wake up until 7:20 this morning! Yea!!

2 months old!

Ben is 2 months old!! Time has gone so quickly and he is still a sweet little baby! Little, however, is an understatement! He has lots of rolls and is getting pretty chunky! Our camera is not working right now (have NO idea why) and so unfortunately, I do not have any pictures this time. Here are his stats from his appointment today:

Weight: 13 lbs 2 oz (90th percentile)
Height: 24 inches (90th percentile)
Head: Didn't get the measurment but it was the 30th percentile! He has a little peanut head!

She said he looked great and is going to be a big boy! Also, HE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT LAST NIGHT!!!! It was greatness!! I woke up a few times but went right back to sleep. He woke up at 6:30 and I fed him but he didn't eat much (was still asleep) and then went back to sleep for 2 more hours. It was wonderful! Let's hope it wasn't just a fluke and hopefully he'll continue on this schedule!

Addyson is also sleeping in panties as of now and she even got up in the night last night to go potty! Yea!!

The joys of going out to eat!

So tonight Ryan is out of town and so when I went and picked up Addyson today me and my sister decided we would take the kiddos to Spring Creek. Sounded like a good idea! Well, not so much. We got there at 5:20 thinking no one would be there but it was packed because it was school fundraiser night. We should have left. We didn't.

Got in line. I'm carrying an extremely heavy baby carrier. Geez those things are heavy! Keeping up with Addyson and trying to order food, get sides on my plate, etc. Addyson decided she wanted a high chair tonight ??? (she never sits in these for like over a year now), so I was pulling that as well. I am sure we were holding the line up.

We sit down and I make Addyson's plate from my plate. Got to love spring creek for this reason! I piled her mac and cheese up high on her plate along with green beans, chicken, corn on the cob and a roll. Yummy! She glances over to Hallie's plate and Hallie's mac and cheese was spread out on her plate so it appeared as if she had more mac and cheese than Addyson. This was not the case, but it appeared to be that way. Addyson starts in on that she wants more mac and cheese like Hallie. I try and explain that she has a bunch too, hers is just piled high. Not working. Addyson takes her plate and shoves it away refusing to eat. I end up moving the other food over and spreading her mac and cheese out on her plate. She's happy.

She eats well and luckily Ben was being super good- just sleeping away! Addyson decides she needs to go potty. Hallie says she has to go too (she's in the middle of potty training) so LeeAnn says she'll take both of them. Good! 10 minutes later LeeAnn returns frustrated saying neither girl went potty they just wanted to play. Lovely. Love playing in public restrooms!! Eww!!

Addyson eats a little more and then she wants some jello. I say , okay, yes, you did eat good, you can have some jello. What color do you want? I always ask her 10 times because she changes her mind often- it's a big decision you know! Well, LeeAnn doesn't let Hallie have jello because she said it has too much sugar in it- I say, you know this is going to cause a melt-down for Hallie, right? She said she would be fine, so I say- okay!! I go and get Addyson jello and of course Hallie has a melt down because she didn't get any. LeeAnn asked Addyson if Hallie could have one bite and Addyson said no. LeeAnn just grabbed a cube anyways and this sent Addyson over the top. She banged her spoon on the table and then spiked it down and pushed her jello away. Hello Ms. Drama Queen!!!

At this point Ben is getting hungry and starts to cry, the place is packed to capacity and I am ready to get out of there!! Addyson eats the rest of her jello and then we leave. Whew- such an ordeal to go out to eat!!! But at least I didn't have to cook anything! :)

Ben's newborn pics

We had Ben's newborn pictures taken a few weeks ago and I got them back this week. A friend of mine, Jamie Truman of Tru Photography, took the pictures at our house. She is very talented at photography and is just getting her business up and running. Here are a few of Ben. I'm not putting all of my favs up here because I'm still designing the announcement, so you'll just have to wait to see all of them!!

She, of course, took some of Miss Addyson as well!

Hopefully I'll get his announcements done before his first birthday!!

Easter 2010

We had a great Easter a few weeks ago! Sunday morning we had planned to go to church but Addyson and Ben both had a cold (yes, poor Ben with his first cold at 5 weeks old!). So, we watched the service on-line, gave Addyson a few breathing treatments and met the family for the afternoon. Saturday we spent the day with my parents. Here are pictures from the weekend!

Eater morning - The Easter bunny came to see Ben!

Addyson was being a little stubborn here- she didn't want to smile or look at the camera and as you can see Ben was a little mad as well!

Breastfeeding roadblocks

I've come to the conclusion that if something is going to happen, it's going to happen to me! A few weeks ago Ben was diagnosed with thrush. No big deal- we got him on some meds (4x/day for 2 weeks!) and we were good. Well, except that didn't clear it up and it has now passed over to me. Symptoms of this are extremely painful nursing on the affected side (like burining and shooting pains). Ben's doctor changed his prescription and my OB gave me a prescription to take as well. So yesterday morning I woke up with really bad pain in my left breast. I thought it was the yeast in my milk ducts (reading on line says this is super painful) and so I just went on with my day. I started getting chills and really achy as the day went on, but no fever. Hmm. Still not sure what all of this is. My chills and achiness got a lot worse and I started looking on line and sure enough, I think I have mastitis as well. (Also, thanks to Jeni and Katie for helping me diagnose!) I took my temp and it was 101. Also I could see redness where it hurt. Great! I called the on-call doctor to get some meds because everything I read on-line says that if you develop a fever to get on meds right away. I got some called in and started on antibiotics. Except that antibiotics are what caused Ben's thrush in the first place, so we'll see how that goes.... During the night my temp got up to 102 and it was a rough night of sleep- if you could even call it that. So I now have mastitis and yeast in my milk ducts- doesn't make for a pleasant nursing experience! Hopefully all of this gets cleared up soon!

Oops....

So yesterday morning I had both kiddos at home. Addyson was home today for Good Friday. Ben was up a lot in the night (3:30, 5:00 and 7:00) and so I was TIRED when Addyson came into our room at 7:20 to be up for the day. I turned on some Dora and Diego and told her I was going back to night night for a little while. Usually she'll lay there and watch cartoons (Ryan made her breakfast and brought it to her in our room) and I am not in a deep sleep where I wouldn't hear her if she needed something. Except apparently I did go back to sleep and she decided to get up and "play" by herself. I woke up frantic after having a dream that there was a tornado and I looked over and Addyson wasn't in the bed and it was 9:06. Oops... The house was quiet and so I went out in the living room and I saw Addyson at the breakfast table and as soon as she saw me she tried to hide something. Probably not a good sign. I walked into the kitchen and saw this on the counter....
You know, tools that every 3 year old should be playing with......Scissors, needle nose pliers and chap stick. Okay, then I look over and see her stool from her bathroom that she has hauled into the kitchen so she could get into the cabinets. So resourceful!
Upon further review, I see that she had used the stool to get up into the candy cabinet. Hmmm...

She had found some nerds and was pouring them into a glass bowl that she had also retrieved from the cabinets. Lovely! She was trying to hide the nerds when I walked into the room...

The conversation went something like this: Me: Addyson why do you have nerds in that bowl?
Addyson: Mmmm, I like to eat nerds (big smile)
Me: You know you're not supposed to come out here and get into the candy.
Addyson: Big smile - trying to charm me over
Me: What is in your hair?
Addyson: Oh, hmm, (as she is examining the hair I am trying to show her), I think that must by taffy
Me: Why is it in your hair?
Addyson: Oh it was all sticky in my room

Great- I go back to her room to see what damage she has done there... I couldn't find any traces of taffy or other sticky candy items thank goodness! All I found was an open tube of Desitin from Ben's room. Upon further investigation I found that she had applied it correctly to herself. Guess she thought she needed some??? Geez...
Note to self: Don't fall asleep and leave Addyson to roam the house!
